Diagnostic Characteristics: Large (7-15 dm) perennial with narrow to broadly oblanceolate leaves. Stem pubescent and unbranched. Flowers are dark maroon, 6-9 mm, in a terminal panicle and the rachis pubescent. Tepals are tapering and without glands.

Management: Disturbance such as ATV trails, timber removal or any activity that results in increased erosion and weed invasion will be detrimental.
