Habitat:
Deep or shallow quiet waters.

Species Description:
Perennial aquatic herb.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early May to mid October.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Floating yellow flowered aquatic plant buoyed by small small bladders with air. This species differs from the more common U. gibba in having a thick main stem rather than threadlike, leaves to 7 cm with many segments, 6 to 20 flowers on the flowering stalk, and recurved fruiting pedicels.

Management:
Avoid changes in moisture/hydrologic conditions at the site. Changes could result from overstory removal, stream/wetland alteration or vegetation removal that would result in increased erosion.
