Habitat:
Rocky, gravelly or sandy soil.

Species Description:
Perennial herb.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early August to late October.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Similar to the common old field aster, S. priceae has purple flowers and larger flower heads. The rays are to 15 mm in length and there are often more than 70 flws in a head.

Management:
Disturbance such as ATV trails, timber removal or any activity that results in increased erosion and weed invasion will be detrimental.
