Habitat:
Wet meadows, swamps, and shores (Gleason & Cronquist 1991).

Species Description:
Shrub.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early June to late September.
Fruiting Period: Early August to late October.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
The infloresence of this species of Spiraea is elongate (longer than wide) in shape, not flattened. The leaves are glabrous (not hairy), broadest above the middle and toothed in this portion of the leaf.

Management:
Disturbance such as ATV trails, timber removal or any activity that results in increased erosion and weed invasion will be detrimental.
