Species Description:

Flowering Period: Early April to late May.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
This elderberry differs from the common species in having red berries and the inflorescence arranged as a panicle. The pith (center part of the woody stem) is brown. The young parts of the plant are usually finely hairy.

Timber removal would be detrimental. Disturbance such as ATV trails, timber removal or any activity that results in increased erosion and weed invasion will be detrimental.
