Species Description:
Perennial herb

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves of this wetland species are unlobed, usually linear-lanceolate. Petioles, peduncles, and pedicels slender and firm. Lowest fruiting heads on pedicels of 1 cm or more. Stalks of fruiting heads recurved. Fruit beak 0.3-0.6 mm. Sepals spreading to recurved in fruit, flowers unisexual

Management:
Avoid changes in moisture/hydrologic conditions at the site. Changes could result from overstory removal, stream/wetland alteration or vegetation removal that would result in increased erosion.
