Diagnostic Characteristics: The strobili (spore-bearing structure) is pedunculate for this species of club-moss. The upright shoots have few branches but are not tree-like. Leaves (appearing scale-like) have long-hairlike tips. The genus Lycopodium has been divided into 3 different genera. The genus Lycopodium has several strobili (cones) and the associated branches that are different from the leafy body of the plant and they have horizontal stems as well as upright stems arising from the rhizome. The aerial branches are rounded not flattened. The strobili are sessile and clustered on a peduncle.

Management: Exotic pest plants are a threat to this species and should be removed. Avoid creating access to the site through trail or road construction.
