Habitat:
Pine barrens, savannas, and sandy soil or peaty swamps.

Species Description:
Perennial herb.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early June to late September.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves are lance-linear, rounded at the tip and base and alternately arranged. The stems are spreading hairy. The fruit capsules are cubical in shape and pedicellate. Flower petals are yellow and appear attached to the top of the ovary.

Management:
Exotic pest plants are a threat to this species and should be removed. Avoid creating access to the site through trail or road construction. Avoid degradation of water quality or changes in natural stream flow.
