Habitat:
Bogs, marshes, seepages, cliffs and ledges where wet by seepage or spray from waterfalls (Weakley 1998); meadows, damp woods.

Species Description:
Perennial herb.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early June to late September.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Species in this genus have orbicular shaped leaves at the end of long petioles and in this species the leaves are lobed. Petioles may be up to 5 cm in length. The white flowers occur in few-flowered (2-7 flowers) umbels that are sessile or nearly so (shorter than the leaf petioles).

Management:
The habitat for this species is especially sensitive to changes in hydrology and not likely to withstand much alteration. Grazing or browsing pressure, vegetation removal, hydrologic changes (i.e. stream alterations road construction) would be detrimental. Exotic pest plants are a threat to this species and should be removed. Avoid creating access to the site through trail or road construction.
