Habitat:
Moist woods and openings in canopy on mountain summits.

Species Description:
Perennial herb.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early September to late October.
Fruiting Period: Early October to mid November.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Flowers of Gentiana decora are slighltly closed and the calyx is densely hairy (puberulent) with lobes linear (appearing as little points). The folds of the blue corolla are about half the length of the corolla lobes.

Management:
Soil disturbance such as ATV trails, timber removal or any activity that results in increased erosion and weed invasion will be detrimental. Exotic pest plants are a threat to this species and should be removed. Trails and roads should not be routed in the vicinity.
