Habitat:
Moist woods and openings on mountain summits.

Species Description:
Perennial herb.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early September to late October.
Fruiting Period: Early October to mid November.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Flowers are slighltly closed and the calyx is densely hairy (puberulent) with lobes linear (appearing as little points). The folds of the blue corolla are about half the length of the corolla lobes.

Management:
Soil disturbance from trails, timber removal or any activity that results in increased erosion, surface water runoff and pest plant/weed invasion will likely be detrimental. Exotic pest plants are a threat to this species.
