Habitat:
Wet ledges in mesophytic forests.

Species Description:
Perennial herb.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early June to late July.
Fruiting Period: Early July to mid August.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
The small enchanter's nightshade differs from the common species, C. lutetiana, in having weak stems to 5 dm (smaller than the common species) and fruit is only 1-2 mm wide.

Management:
Timber removal or soil disturbance even in surrounding forests may change site moisture or light conditions and could degrade the habitat for this species. Exotic pest plants are a threat to this species.
