Species Description:
Perennial aquatic.

Flowering Period: Early May to late September.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
An aquatic plant with principal leaves submersed and palmately dissected with an overall rotund shape. Stamens 3-6 (distinquishing it from Brasenia with over 12). Flowers are white with a yellow base and auriculate (with ear-like projections) near the base. Cabomba occurs in still waters such as ponds or sloughs rather than running waters.

Changes in hydrology or degradation of water quality in the habitat for this species could cause decline. Changes in light conditions could also detrimentally affect this species.
