Habitat:
Swamps, ponds and quiet streams.

Species Description:
Perennial aquatic.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early May to late September.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
An aquatic plant with principal leaves submersed and palmately dissected with an overall rotund shape. Stamens 3-6 (distinquishing it from Brasenia with over 12). Flowers are white with a yellow base. auriculate (with ear-like projections) near the base. Cabomba occurs in still waters such as ponds or sloughs rather than running waters.

Management:
Avoid changes in moisture conditions at the site. These could result from overstory removal or changes in hydrology (stream alteration or increased erosion for example). Avoid degradation of water quality or changes in natural stream flow
