Rocky woods and banks.

Species Description:
Perennial vine.

Phenology:
Flowering Period: Early April to late June.

Diagnostic Characteristics:
This plant is a woody vine or climbing shrub with deciduous leaves. The upper leaves are merged at their bases and glaucous, forming a disc around the stem. The tips of the lower stem leaves are rounded to emarginate. Flowers are yellow and are gibbous (bulge at the base).

Management:
Exotic pest plants are a threat to this species. Soil disturbance or overstory removal in or around the habitat for this species should be evaluated for possible impacts. Increased light could be beneficial depending on the circumstances.
